Learning Workshop Series 2 - Bringing Generation Z Closer, Building Learning Connections

Yogyakarta, 19 February 2024 – In response to the ever-changing dynamics of higher education, the Management Study Program from the Faculty of Business and Economics, Indonesian Islamic University (UII) is proud to present Learning Workshop Series 2 entitled "Bringing Generation Z Closer, Building Learning Connections". This event will be held on 19-20 February 2024 at East Park Hotel, Yogyakarta.

This workshop aims to increase lecturers' understanding of the characteristics of generation Z and provide them with innovative and adaptive teaching techniques and strategies. Through various sessions guided by experts in their fields, participants are expected to be able to develop the verbal and non-verbal communication skills needed to create an inclusive and beneficial learning environment for students.

In the first session, Dr. Hendi Pratama, MA., S.Pd., as the main speaker, started the discussion with the theme of effective learning strategies for Generation Z. In his chat, he emphasized the importance of adapting learning methods to the characteristics of today's students. “Generation Z tends to be more responsive to interactive and visual learning. "Therefore, it is important for us as educators to update our teaching strategies so that they remain relevant and effective," he said.

The second session, guided by Yasser Fikri, explored the concept of humor in the learning context. With a light joke, Yasser opened a discussion about the importance of humor in increasing student involvement in the learning process. "Humor not only makes the atmosphere more enjoyable, but also helps reduce stiffness in class and builds more intimate interactions between lecturers and students," he explained.

Kevin Kautsar, S.Pd., CPS, as the final speaker, ended the workshop by discussing effective communication skills for lecturers. In his talk, Kevin emphasized the importance of clear communication and empathy in facilitating the teaching and learning process. "As educators, we must have the ability to understand and respond to individual needs and differences in the classroom," he said.
